Do
I need to bring my own equipment?
Yes.
We require that all participants have their own ski/snowboard
equipment. If you do not own your own equipment or are having
difficulty getting equipment, we can put you in contact with our
shop sponsors who will be happy to hook you up with equipment
at a great price. Alternatively, you can rent gear at your destination
- this would only be recommended for shorter length programs.
Where
do most of your participants come from?
As
Global Snow Tours is Aussie and Kiwi based and promoted, many participants
are from Australia or New Zealand. However, we have had many
international participants in the past and welcome more in
the future.
What
happens if everyone is better than I am?
There
isn't any need to worry about the rest of the riders and skier.
Everyone on all of Global Snow Tours programs are there to learn.
Everyone will progress at different levels and our attentive coaches
are there to help everyone get the most out of their stay, regardless
of ability levels. In the past, the less experienced riders have
been the most improved. Structured session plans and goal-setting
help ensure continued improvement
What
do I need to take?
While
you may be going away for a long time you do not need to pack
EVERYTHING you own. Make sure you pack plenty of warm clothes
and your usual waterproof snow gear. Helmets are compulsory
on any Super or Progression Camp program, so make
sure you bring our own.
Note
for Super, Progression and Mammoth programs: If you have a
snow shovel or 2 way 'Motorola' style radio, make sure you
bring them as we do plenty of jump building. For the Super
Camp, it is compulsory to have the 2 way radio and shovel.
You will need to purchase one if you don't have one. There
are more details on what to pack in your registration pack
(sent to you after payment of your program deposit)..

been able to secure significant discounts on all airfares for
our programs.

much so, that if you see a cheaper price elsewhere, we will
beat it!

What
do I do for insurance?
Global
Snow Tours can arrange comprehensive travel
insurance at highly competitive prices. The policy offered provides
cover for all Global Snow Tours program scheduled activities.
We
recommend that you read the product disclosure statement for this
product before making the decision to purchase this insurance,
and to ensure that it is suitable to your needs.
Alternatively,
if you are looking to seek insurance independently, it is a requirement
by Global Snow Tours that your insurance includes coverage for
all snow related activities - including backcountry travel
and terrain park usage - Note that most standard insurance
policies do not cover these circumstances. Please read our conditions
page for more information regarding insurance.
How
can we stay in contact with family?
One
of the many features of our 'Super Camp' program is the fantastic
web site. This ensures that all your family and friends back
home are keeping up with your daily adventures. They can check
out our daily photos or watch short video clips highlighting
the days riding and activities.
Participants
on the Super and Progression camps have their own computer
with web access, so they are constantly in touch with home.
All housing is fitted with wireless broadband connection,
so if you have a laptop and you want to stay in touch on your
own computer, feel free to bring it along. We ask that you
make sure it is insured in case of any unforeseen circumstances
- damage or otherwise. Global
Snow Tours can help with providing this insurance
coverage as part of your travel insurance.
Phone
is a cheap way to stay in personal touch with everyone at home.
Phone cards are a cheap and easy way to make calls from all
destinations (approx. 15c a minute). Family at home can get
in contact with participants and staff 24 hours a day. Numbers
of the lodge and staff mobile phones will be given out
to participants and families before everyone departs.
What
happens if I have dietary/medical needs?
No
matter what your needs, we will do our best to accommodate
them. Prior to leaving, a staff member will be in contact with
those participants (or parents of campers for those under 18)
with dietary/medical needs. Any illness or accident will be
observed and recorded and the appropriate action will be taken.
Our program cooks will be more than happy to accommodate those
participants with dietary needs. The details and forms in our
registration pack, to be sent out after payment of deposit,
will help us to address these issues.
What
happens if there is an accident?
At
all resorts we visit, the ski patrol are world class and are more
than able to deal with any incident that occurs on snow. Any major
accidents are referred by ski patrol to any of the local first
class medical facilities. In addition, all program staff have
completed and hold current First Aid Certificates and are equipped
to deal with unexpected situations. All program staff are well
versed in our medical response plan.
In
the event of an emergency, parents, family or loved ones will
be contacted immediately by a member of Global Snow Tours staff.
What
if I miss my plane or don't arrive at a normal time i.e. 3am?
Will someone be there to pick me up?
No
matter what time you get in, we can always arrange someone to
be there to pick you up! Participants will be given the key program
phone numbers, and numbers of staff in the registration pack sent
out after payment of the deposit. If there is a missed connection
or other problem, participants can always reach us.
Note: Transfers outside of specified arrival
and departure times will attract a transfer charge, in addition
to any other fees involved in the transfer.
How
much money should I take?
This
will vary for each program we offer.
For
our Mammoth, Super and Progression Camps, the majority of
costs are covered by Global Snow Tours , so we estimate that on average
participants should budget $100AUD (Japan) or $50US (USA)
a week to cover their expenses, such as phone cards, lunch,
personal items, junk food purchases, etc. Of course you'll
need to allow a bit more if you plan to buy a new winter wardrobe,
or are keen to discover the town during the Progression Camp!
What
if I don't know anyone on the program? Will I be uncomfortable?
Approximately
75% of participants will not know each other prior to our programs,
so if you don't know anyone who's going, there is no need to worry.
You will quickly make friends, and you will find that most participants
are of similar age, have the same interests, and become lasting
friends.
How
can I obtain a registration pack?
Registration
packs will be sent to you after payment of your camp or tour deposit.
The pack contains information about The Camp , including
code of conduct forms, liability waiver and medical forms. Also
enclosed are details regarding what to bring, transfer details,
what to expect, etc.
What
if I get injured before I leave?
Please
refer to the cancellation
policy for more information.
What
is your policy on helmets?
All
campers on our Super and Progression camps, as well as the Mammoth
Mtn program are required to wear a helmet at all times when riding
or skiing. There are no exceptions.
What's
your policy on alcohol and drugs?
All
of Global Snow Tours ' programs have a ZERO tolerance policy towards
any participant found with drugs, and any participant under legal
drinking age found with alcohol. The code of conduct form, signed
by each participant (and parent if under 18) prior to each program,
clearly state these rules and policies and detail our expectations
of all participants.
When
do I need to register?
For
full details in registration for each program, visit the conditions
page.
Can
I speak to someone about references?
A
list of past participants and parents has been composed for those
who wish to receive a first hand account of all of Global Snow Tours ' programs. The list contains contact details of past participants
who have volunteered to speak about their The Camp experience.
Please contact us at info@globalsnowtours.com
and we will be happy to send the reference list to you.
Do
I have to do the avalanche course?
It
is very strongly recommended that all participants of both
the Super and Progression Camps participate in the avalanche
course, however it is not compulsory. For more information
please view our avalanche course
page.
What
if I still want to know more?
Feel

any of our friendly staff will be happy to answer any further
